How we stabilized a landslide emergency in just 30 days
The intense rainfall that recently affected the Concepción area triggered a high-risk landslide, threatening critical infrastructure and public safety. In response, the Concepción Health Service required a solution that was fast, reliable, and technically sound.
Pangea Geotecnia was selected to carry out an emergency geotechnical stabilization project on highly unstable ground under challenging weather conditions.
The challenge: stabilizing a collapsed hillside during the rainy season
The affected site presented a high risk of additional slope failures, requiring an immediate and technically robust intervention. The solution had to be executed with precision, leaving no room for error while minimizing the impact on the surrounding urban environment.
We designed and implemented a stabilization system based on a soil nail wall, reinforced with high-strength flexible mesh, self-drilling anchors, and a final 80 mm layer of shotcrete.
This solution made it possible to stabilize the slope quickly while ensuring both structural stability and protection of the surrounding area.
From 70 days to 30: the value of efficient planning
The project was originally scheduled to take 70 calendar days. Through optimized planning, logistics, and resource management, Pangea Geotecnia completed the work in just 30 days, without compromising quality or safety.
