Dr. Mothersille Conducts Technical Visit to Pangea Geotecnia in Chile – January 2026

In January 2026, we welcomed Dr. Mothersille to Chile for a technical visit focused on reviewing recent developments in foundation engineering and advanced geotechnical characterization.

Over the past several years, we have maintained an active technical relationship as licensees of SBMA Ltd, which has strengthened our capabilities in the design and construction of foundation systems aligned with international standards.

As part of the visit, we presented the progress we have made in the application of pressuremeter testing to derive in situ geotechnical parameters, particularly in the estimation of soil stiffness under real loading conditions. This line of work has been directed toward reducing design uncertainty and improving the reliability of geotechnical models used in mining and infrastructure projects.

Part of this applied research was presented at ISP8 (Luxembourg, September 2025), where our team received the Menard Award in the “Outstanding Papers” category, recognizing the technical rigor of the studies submitted.

The visit also included site tours of ongoing projects incorporating anchored foundation support systems, providing an opportunity to review how advanced characterization methodologies are integrated into both design and construction practice.

These technical exchanges reinforce our commitment to developing geotechnical solutions grounded in data, applied research, and continuous improvement.

José Quiroz, Devon Mothersille and Rafael Martínez celebrate the addition of the textbook “Grouted Soil and Rock Anchors” to the company’s technical library.
