In this video from Pangea Geotecnia, Jasna Albornoz, Site Manager, explains the work being carried out on the Lautaro building project in the city of Concepción. The project involves the construction of a Berlin-type retaining wall, an excavation support system that includes several construction stages. These begin with the installation of steel piles, followed by the placement of timber lagging and the drilling of ground anchors, as shown in the project.
This retaining system is designed by specialist geotechnical engineers, who determine the required pile lengths, lagging dimensions, and ground anchor capacities based on the loads imposed by the surrounding structures.
The construction of the Berlin-type retaining wall typically takes approximately two months, from the installation of the steel piles through to the completion of the final stage of the retaining system.
