Geotechnical Study for the San Nicolás Wind Farm – Consorcio Eólico

Consorcio Eólico

San Nicolás and San Carlos,
Ñuble Region, Chile

Pangea Geotechnia contributed to the development of the **San Nicolás Wind Farm** by carrying out a comprehensive geotechnical site investigation to evaluate the ground conditions for the future wind turbines and their associated infrastructure. Our team completed **14 investigation points**, including **five boreholes** drilled to depths of up to **25 meters** and **nine trial pits** distributed across the project site. The investigation also included **high-resolution pressuremeter testing**, geophysical surveys, and laboratory testing to characterize the strength, composition, and engineering behavior of the subsurface. Based on these findings, we provided detailed geotechnical recommendations to support the safe and efficient design of the project. The study also included seismic site characterization and drainage assessments, providing essential information for the design of robust foundations adapted to the local ground conditions. Pangea's investigation delivered critical engineering data that supported the successful development of one of the most important renewable energy projects in Chile's Ñuble Region.
