At Pangea Geotecnia, precision is our priority. That is why we use high-resolution equipment to ensure every measurement is reliable and suitable for geotechnical investigations. In this article, we explain the role of the pressuremeter calibration chamber and how it helps us obtain accurate data for ground characterization.
How does the pressuremeter calibration chamber work?
Pressuremeter calibration is an essential step in obtaining reliable test results. As part of this process, we perform two types of calibration tests:
Sand installation The pressuremeter is positioned inside the calibration chamber, and sand is placed around the probe under controlled conditions to achieve a consistent installation. Hoist-assisted installation In this procedure, the pressuremeter is installed under pressure using a hoist before data acquisition begins.
Once the pressuremeter has been installed, the recorded data are processed using specialized software, allowing detailed analysis of the ground response.
Why is calibration important in geotechnical investigations?
Calibration is essential for ensuring reliable measurements and minimizing uncertainty in the interpretation of ground behavior. The resulting data provide a dependable basis for engineering and construction projects that require accurate ground characterization.
