Stage III of the Berlin-type retaining wall construction – Futuro Carrera building, Concepción

In this third stage of the project, we are constructing an anchored Berlin-type retaining wall, a geotechnical solution commonly used to provide ground support during deep excavations.

At this stage, we are carrying out the drilling and installation of ground anchors, a critical process for ensuring the stability and safety of the retaining system.

Drilling and ground anchor installation process

Drilling the borehole We use the cased drilling method, in which an outer casing is installed to stabilize the borehole during drilling. At the same time, an inner drill string is used to inject water, facilitating excavation and removing the drilled material.

Removal of the casing Once the required depth has been reached, the drilling equipment and casing are withdrawn, leaving the borehole ready for the next stage.

Installation of the ground anchor With the borehole prepared, the ground anchor is installed in its final position, ensuring it is correctly placed to resist the design loads.

Grouting As the final step, the borehole is filled with cement grout, which bonds the anchor to the surrounding ground and provides the long-term structural performance of the anchoring system.
